Franklin Street Loft
Tribeca, New York

The owner of this 3000 square-foot loft in Tribeca wanted a large open space with design elements that referenced the elemental, industrial qualities of the neighborhood. Brick walls and wood beams and joists were stripped to the bare material and cast iron columns were revealed behind layers of gypsum board. North and south exposures allowed us to line the south facing wall with two bedrooms and a 900 sf master bedroom suite that opens onto the main living space with ten foot tall blackened steel and glass sliding pocket doors. Air conditioning ducts, speakers, lighting, and a projection screen are tucked into the joists of the main living space to provide an unobstructed view of the material of the space and the neighborhood beyond.
